Crunches, leg lifts and other abs exercises do not give you a flat tummy. Electro-stimulation of your abdominal muscles is almost as ridiculous as the Gut-Be-Gone. Stay away from these programs and others.
Great female abs can be achieved by almost anyone today, except if you are a man, of course. There are so many programs out there to help you build female abs, how do you know which ones work and which ones do not?
1. Female Abs are not Male Abs
Female abs are different from male abs so you need a program that has a component specifically for women. Most fitness training can be adapted to both men and women, but keep in mind that men want ripped, washboard abs while most women like a flat, but firm tummy that does not hang over their belt. Many programs are designed for men, but throw in a few pictures of women in their advertising to attract female customers.
If the program focuses on "ripped" or "six pack" abs, then it is most likely a program created primarily for men. Now, some programs use the term "six pack abs" because it is a term that resonates with people who want to get fit. That is fine. Just make sure they do not focus entirely on male abs.
Do not automatically disregard the program if it was created by a man. Some male trainers have been very successful with helping women to build great female abs.
Make sure the program has been around for a while and has a good reputation. Do not give too much credit to the reviews, however, as many sales pages on the internet disguise themselves as review sites. Most are not objective review sites at all, but are very clever methods for getting you to buy their product.
If the female abs program you are interested in has been helping people for more than five, or even ten, years, then I would consider it a good program that has experience building great female abs.
3. Abs in a Bottle-Stay Away from the Pills
Some supplements are fine, but if a program to build female abs encourages you to take diet or weight loss pills, stay far away. Pills do not work and can be very harmful. If you are still not convinced, check with your doctor.
4. Gimmicks and Gadgets
Stay away from the gimmicks. Electro-stimulation of your abdominal muscles is almost as ridiculous as the Gut-Be-Gone. These gadgets do not work and are a waste of money. Gym machines such as the stationary bike or treadmill can be very important for helping you flatten your tummy, but most of the machines you see in infomercials are garbage. Spend your money on a good abs program and not a gadget.
5. No More Crunches
Any program that focuses on mid-section exercises is a hoax. Crunches, leg lifts and other abs exercises do not give you a flat tummy. Only losing fat will give you great abs and you cannot lose weight in only one place on your body. It just does not work that way. Your body chooses where it will lose the fat, not you.
A good female abs program will focus on cardio and nutrition. Many women believe that in order to flatten their tummies, they must work the abdominal muscles. The truth is, such exercises will only build muscle-making your tummy even bigger-and do very little to remove the fat.
6. An 8 Minute Program is Not Going to Get You Great Female Abs
The bottom line is that great female abs comes from a balance of proper exercise and good nutrition. This does not mean you have to give up chocolate. In fact, a program that makes you give up your favorite foods is unrealistic and unsustainable. A good abs program will allow you a few indulgences, but only on occasion.
On the other hand, there are some programs that encourage you to eat pizza and burgers on a regular basis. These are not good either and are only an attempt to get you to purchase their product by appealing to your laziness and lack of willpower. You are smarter than that and realize that a good program is one that is balanced and realistic.
